Rare lull in Southern California earthquakes

Southern California’s normally restless earthquake faults barely twitched during the week ending July 12, as you can see in our new weekly quake wrap-up. There wasn’t a single 3.0 or larger quake in the counties of Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside or San Bernardino. Usually, the region records three or more quakes that measure 3.0 or larger.
Such seismic lulls are rare, but they do happen. Here’s a sample of the week’s events. PLEASE CLICK HERE to enlarge map, and click on blue bubbles for details about individual quakes.

A good earth quake is just the slap in the face we need to go with our financial crisis. Dam that feels good.

Rare lull is bad news! No microquakes releasing the pressure will spell big ones later on.
