By dawn’s early lightYou might be able to see the brief but glorious sight of an unarmed Minuteman III missile soaring into the atmosphere before dawn on Wednesday. (Click image to enlarge and get detail.)

Brian Webb of spacearchive.info says that a Minuteman with three test assemblies is scheduled to launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base at 1:01 a.m. Wednesday.

The plume from such missiles is usually visible from Orange County, if he sky is clear. Look for the Minuteman above the northwest horizon — or in the direction of the Palos Verdes Peninsula.
