The massive high pressure system that produced record temperatures across Orange County over the weekend is moving east. But it generated more intense heat Monday, setting or tying several records across the region. The heat wave will finally break on Tuesday, when the onshore winds return, cooling coastal areas and moderating the heat inland, says the National Weather Service.
On Monday …
Tuesday’s highs will be in the 70s at the coast and the 80s inland.
”Weakening high pressure and increase onshore flow will bring gradual cooling this week,” the weather service says in an advisory. “A shallow marine layer will develop Tuesday and slowly deepen into the end of the week with a return of night and morning low clouds and fog to coastal areas.”
