In a sign of the growing quality of the faculty, 20 UC Irvine professors have been elected fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the nation’s oldest — and one of its most revered — scientific organizations.
UCI had more people elected to the AAAS than any other university or institution in the United States, and saw its number of AAAS members rise from 85 to 105 overnight.
“I am overwhelming honored by this, especially when you consider the other people on the list,” said James Bullock, a 36-year-old UCI astrophysicist who studies the Milky Way in context to other galaxies. (Click here for video of Bullock explaining his research)
The AAAS, which was founded in 1848 and publishes the prestigious journal Science, also elected:

Anyone can be a member of AAAS. I believe what this should have reported is that they were elected as Fellows.
