UCLA has produced an interesting and entertaining video that shows cliff swallows making an annual return to the university’s Arthur Ashe Student Health and Wellness Center, much in the way the birds make their famous March trip to Mission San Juan Capistrano in south Orange County.

Click here to watch the show, which one professor calls “a bit of a Hitchcock moment.”

Those birds terd in flocks, and it doesn’t look like snow, its the most awful tasting cake icing in the world.

This is NOT a “hitchcockian moment. Each year less and less swallows have made it to their destination in San Juan. This is nothing new. They made their appearance at our house in Mission Viejo in the early 80s and this year they found us in Northpark in Irvine. They clearly have decided to take residence in various locations around South County for a while now.

They used to return to UCI, too. Maintenance would hose their nests down, off the buildings. They claimed it was deteriorating the buildings. Funny, Mission SJC has been around a while, and the swallows have always nested there.
